ULTRA News: ULTRA Achieves ISO Guide 34 Accreditation

Friday, January 15, 2010

ULTRA Scientific is pleased to announce that it has passed the rigorous auditing process of the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) and has been accredited as an ISO Guide 34 Reference Material Producer (Certificate Number 0851.02) for both organic and inorganic certified reference materials (CRM). ISO Guide 34 employs an extensive homogeneity, short term stability, long-term stability, QC and statistical analysis protocol for validation of stated CRM uncertainty values.

This new accreditation augments ULTRA Scientific’s existing A2LA ISO 17025 accreditation and ISO 9001 registration. As part of ULTRA Scientific’s strategic plan and diversification into new markets, plans are currently underway to achieve ISO 13485.

Just as environmental, pharmaceutical, food and other testing laboratories are faced with changing regulations and more sophisticated testing methodologies, so too are manufacturers faced with changing demands from customers and in manufacturing processes.

“Since 1976, ULTRA Scientific has demonstrated its commitment to Quality with more than just words by being the first reference material provider to achieve ISO 9001, one of the first to achieve ISO 17025 for its QC laboratory, and we now reach an apogee with ISO Guide 34,” said William Russo, Ph.D., President and founder of ULTRA Scientific.

John Russo, Vice President & General Manager states, “With 25 years of experience operating under ISO 9001 and regular audits by our accrediting bodies and customers, ULTRA has been well positioned to implement ISO Guide 34. Every day we look for new ways to improve our operations and produce products of the highest quality.”

“These are exciting times for our business,” states Michael Sweatt, Director of Sales and Marketing. “Our customers demand an ongoing commitment to product and process improvement.” He further stated that “we are seeing a global focus on CRM accuracy with ISO Guide 34, as evidenced by discussions with our domestic and international customers and distributors. What our customers deem important to them, we deem important to us!”
